2010, archival pigment prints

For Pom-pom Pink/Duct-tape Silver my daughter performs in front of the camera to transform the everyday into a contemporary  nursery rhyme,  fairytale, or modern day myth. In these images, she models nonsensical costumes, role plays in make-believe, or poses with one of her own artistic creations, as I explore the relationship between identity, memory, and the creative impulse. Ranging from the cute, quirky, disturbing, to violent, I see these open-ended, seemingly ambiguous moments, situated  between sociological document, dreamscape, portraiture, performance, and theatrical tableau.
